They actually knew my name, my insurance provider and even my mobile number??! Still, I soon figured out it was a scam. They claimed to be from some “road accident assurance” thing but got really annoyed when I asked who exactly they were with. Then they started calling me names and just ended the call.

What a clever scam this one was! I got a call supposedly from Esure, my insurance company, about a personal injury claim. They talked loads about legal stuff and this 'category 2 injury' thing, sounding all official. They actually knew quite a bit about my recent car crash, so it seemed legit at first. They even gathered a fair bit of my info before I caught on and told them I’d ring my insurance directly to confirm. Hung up straight after that.

Someone rang pretending to be from some government accident insurance firm, saying they had to confirm if my insurance provider was handling things properly and that updating info was a legal requirement. I told them I'd rather ring my insurer directly, and then the caller got really annoyed, telling me my insurance would have to sort it out and just cut me off. Definitely felt like a total scam.
