A couple of comments below this one will show you exactly how to tackle these scam calls. If all the thousands of people in the UK who get these dodgy calls and texts every day took the time to follow these steps, the police and government would be forced to act against these crooks. Don’t just expect someone else to sort it out. It doesn’t take much time at all. I’ve bookmarked the Action Fraud site, sent an email to my MP and got an interesting reply, and I also forward any suspicious texts and emails to [email protected] - but it’s pointless if just me does it.

I just received a call from the number +447713717799 at 23:49 last night, 1st July 2022. I found it rather peculiar, so I decided to look it up and discovered that others have reported similar experiences. The call asked for my full name and email address, and displayed what appeared to be the blue NHS logo. It mentioned something about ordering a COVID-19 Omicron PCR test kit and had several lines of text. There was a section that read “Book my free PCR test,” requesting my first name, surname, and email. If you scroll a bit further down, there are links for terms of use, cookies, accessibility, and help centre information, along with a note about Crown copyright. I couldn’t proceed beyond that point as it demanded my details. Just thought I’d share in case it’s of any use to someone!

I received a rather alarming text from this number, claiming that I’ve been in touch with someone infected with Covid. It’s clearly a scam, as I haven’t left my house or met a soul in more than a week! You can’t just order a PCR test kit; you need to book an actual PCR test appointment. Plus, who even has access to my phone number? I’ve not installed any app on my device, and we’re not disclosing our numbers when we visit places these days. It's quite concerning that there are those out there who can deceive people in such a manner! Take care, everyone!
