During the pandemic, I got some quite entertaining calls from folks claiming to be from places like Amazon and HMRC, plus a few others I’ve done business with. This recent one was especially good! They told me my National Insurance number had been misused near the Welsh border and that I needed to press one to speak to someone before legal trouble kicked in. What cracks me up is, how exactly does someone misuse an NI number? And if they were serious about fraud, why would the warning end with threats of legal action against me? Gotta admit, these scammers are stepping up their game!
