I recently placed an advert on Gumtree seeking a particular item, and a chap named Robert McLeod reached out to me, asserting that he had exactly what I was after. He mentioned residing near Inverness and seemed keen to arrange a meet-up. He’s been dodging my calls ever since. I've already reached out to my bank to flag the situation and have also reported it to the police, as I believe I've provided them with some solid leads. To add to my unease, a search of his phone number, 07709707066, on Facebook revealed a completely different name-John Inver. I've also taken the liberty of informing Gumtree about this occurrence. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this one-it’s a total scam!

Indeed, I received a phone call from this number regarding an advert for sale I had listed on Gumtree. The caller sent me a picture of a driving licence, identifying himself as Robert John Macleod. What's curious is that when you look up the number on Facebook, it leads to a profile for someone named John Inver. As it stands, I haven’t received the item or my money back after sending funds to his bank account with a sort code ending in 99 and an account number finishing with 517. I even double-checked his assertion about using a courier service he mentioned, but they confirmed no record of such a delivery. Allegedly, he has no tracking information and keeps insisting the item hasn’t been dispatched. I’ve relayed all this information to the authorities. I would strongly recommend steering clear of this individual.
