A caller claimed to represent the Microsoft Security Team, insisting they could assist me in rectifying issues with my computer remotely. They urged me to download a particular software application, which was clearly a ruse intended to gain unauthorised access to my machine.

Got a call at around 9:36 in the morning on 30 May 2023. It was a bloke with a faint Indian accent claiming to be from the "Microsoft Security Team." First thing, he asked if I was the "primary user of the computer in my home" before telling me that my computer’s IP address was apparently involved in some gambling activity. He said he wanted to assist me with it. I just said a quick two-word reply and ended the call straight away.

Got a call on the morning of 30th May 2023 at about 9:36am. It was a bloke with a faint Indian accent claiming to be from the "Microsoft Security Team." After he asked if I was the "primary user of the computer here," he went on to say my PC's IP address was involved in some sort of gambling scam, and he was there to assist. I just gave a short reply and then ended the call straight away.
