4 yearsJust got a call today, 16/11/2022, from a woman asking if I was (my first name). She said it right, so I asked her who she was. She claimed to be a council support worker but then said she couldn’t talk more unless I was actually (my first name) which obviously I was. I hung up, then straight away another woman rang from a different number, 07759 720477, asked again if I was (my name). I returned the call to the original number and the same woman answered, insisting she wouldn’t speak unless I was (my first name). I said yes, but then she wanted my surname, which I naively gave. Then she told me it wasn’t the person she wanted, said someone’s given her the wrong contact. It didn’t add up - if she really knew the person she was supposed to support, how could she mix up numbers or have the wrong details? Made me really suspicious about who actually handed over my name and number.4 yearsI had the same experience and decided to look up "post office depot" (didn't click the link in the message though, seemed dodgy). Turns out, trading standards flagged this scam back in 2021. If you actually follow that link, they’ll try to get you to enter loads of personal info, which just ends up in the hands of other scammers. Honestly, if they supposedly have a parcel with your name and address, why on earth do they need your personal details?
