There was this “Hi Mum” trick that almost caught me out, I nearly ended up losing more than £1400! Proper close call that was.

Received a text from 07706078415 saying their phone got water damage so they’re using a temp number. They asked me to save it and reply. They mentioned their banking’s locked for 48hrs cause of that number change, which is a pain because they've got a bill for £1479.40 due today. They can’t pay it themselves and asked if I could cover it till they get their banking back, hopefully by the day after tomorrow. Sounded a bit urgent and kinda stressful for them.
