On the first day of the year, I got a call from someone claiming to be from Three mobile, saying they could slash my monthly charges by 40%. When I asked what my last bill was, they couldn’t give me a straight answer. I told them I wasn’t with Three, but with EE instead, and they insisted they could still offer me a deal. The whole thing felt like a dodgy overseas call centre, and their story kept changing. Plus, the number registered to my wife, not me, which was odd since I was the one on the phone. To top it off, the connection kept dropping all the time.
