Beware of the HMRC scam where they try to scare you into handing over cash to avoid your National Insurance number being frozen, which is totally bogus. Also, I’ve seen a few folks on O2 getting mixed up about the free alert service. The number 07701 407 217 isn’t actually O2 itself, but a message from O2 letting you know someone called. If it bothers you, you can switch off the alerts by dialling 901, then *, then 5, then 5. That part’s genuine though.

Got a call with a robotic voice saying something about HMRC and legal trouble if I didn't press 1 to talk to someone. The accent sounded totally American and the message was all over the place - obviously just a scam trying to trick people.

I got two calls from 07701407217 and 07701407216. At first, I thought about ignoring it, but I picked up and wished I hadn’t. The caller claimed to be from HMRC and warned me about legal trouble if I didn’t respond soon. They told me to press 1 fast to avoid any problems. That’s when I just hung up straight away. Such a dodgy call!

Got a call on 07701407217, didn't pick up the first time but answered the second, and honestly, that was a dumb move. Left a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, threatening legal action if I didn’t press 1 immediately. Ended up hanging up right after hearing that.
