I've noticed that when Uber Eats drivers ring you, they do it through a number like this so neither side gets to see the other's actual phone digits. It’s meant to keep things private and safe for both the driver and the customer. Sometimes, I've also gotten calls from shops or restaurants using the same number if they need to clarify something about the delivery.

I answered and just said hi, and the guy goes hi hi hi and then just hung up. No Uber Eats or anything, sounded like some bloke in his 20s or 30s just messing about.

I booked an Uber and got a message saying the driver had arrived and was about 3 minutes away. I replied saying I couldn’t see them and asked where exactly they were, but got no response. Sent another message, still no answer. Tried calling but no pick up. Suddenly got a cancellation text saying it was because I wasn’t there and they were charging me £5.95 for the trouble. I complained and told them to check the driver’s location as it definitely wasn’t where we agreed. They looked into it and refunded me, but honestly, it feels like a total rip-off.
