At about 5:56 this morning, I got a dodgy text claiming to be from my bank, asking if I’d made a payment to HMRC. It said to reply yes or no, which was odd as I hadn’t dealt with HMRC at all. The first message said someone from the bank would ring me soon, and then I got another text about some made-up charge on my card - what spooked me was it had the right last four digits of my card number!
