It didn’t take much detective work on my part to realise that this was nothing more than a scammer on the other end of the line, rather than an authentic HMRC representative. They had the audacity to ask me to press 1 to get in touch with my supposed case officer concerning some fantastical tax evasion allegations. Let me be perfectly clear: there’s absolutely no case of tax evasion involving me. I'm a law-abiding citizen through and through!
