I received a call from a woman inquiring if I was Mrs. so-and-so. I replied in the negative. She proceeded to ask for Mr. so-and-so, my partner. I explained that he wasn't available, but that I was his partner. She mentioned that her cousin had been undertaking some construction work nearby and wondered if leaflets could be distributed via the arena. Curious, I probed into which area she meant, and she mentioned Leek, Stoke. I informed her that I don’t reside in Leek at all, and that seemed to be the end of the chat.

Got a call from some woman saying her husband was doing building jobs nearby and asked if I needed anything done. Sounded like one of those dodgy scams you hear about all the time, pretending to be local builders. Thing is, there hasn’t been any building happening around here lately, and if that lad’s gotta get his missus to do the talking, doesn’t say much for his skills. Just a heads up - honest builders with a decent name won’t be bothering you out of the blue like that.
