I had a rather similar encounter as the one mentioned earlier; at first, they appeared rather straightforward (though quite pointless), promising a more affordable SIM-only package, naturally. They asked when my contract was up and what perks I was entitled to, but then failed to make any move towards actually selling me an upgrade plan. I'm left wondering if this is merely a peculiar angle for identity theft, or perhaps they're fishing for personal data to sell on in bulk - it wouldn't surprise me if they are making cold calls to every number within a range linked to Three, prying for contract info. In any case, they've mined a bit of trivial information from me, and if I've inadvertently contributed to their profits, well, that’s just grand.

I've had a similar run-in like Sarah did. This person asserted they were representing 3 Mobile, which I’m now escalating to the appropriate folks over there.

I answered a call from a chap who was trying to pitch me an early upgrade for my mobile phone. He seemed to think I was a business owner or self-employed, but when I corrected him, he mentioned he'd reach out again when he had a consumer package ready for me. I found it a bit dodgy that he didn’t introduce himself properly or confirm my identity by using my full name, which is usually standard practice. However, he did seem to have knowledge of my mobile provider. It was clear the call was coming from a mobile number rather than an official call centre. I’ve made up my mind to block this number and flag it as spam.
