That bloke who said he tried to kill himself? Turns out he's been slapped with a 5 year sentence for fraud, so probably just him playing games to put people off chasing him (plus blocking any decent feedback). Classic conman behaviour. If anyone's got problems with him, get in touch with trading standards, let's pile on another charge and get that pathetic bloke more time behind bars. His kids go to private schools and he owns a bunch of racehorses, meanwhile some poor victims can't even stay in their own houses. Absolutely disgraceful.

Seems like a couple of folks are trying to make this bloke look good and put the blame on the victims instead. I get that he might have personal problems but that doesn’t excuse what he’s done. He managed to run this scam over and over, and plenty of people are ready to speak up in court about it. Loads of people have tough lives but they don’t go around conning others out of thousands repeatedly, so it’s pretty clear he meant to do it.

I used to know Mark Buck, but he went by Mike Jones with MJ Construction. Honestly, we're heartbroken to discover the truth about him. He's been dishonest with us right from the beginning. I heard he got arrested yesterday for breaking bail rules and will stay in jail until his trial in November. He’s taken our money and just abandoned us.

We got scammed by this guy too, lost over £50,000. Him and his crew ripped off our roof during heavy snow and just left it like that with three young kids at home, water leaking right where the kids sleep. Took money upfront but never finished or paid any suppliers. Also nicked materials from the site. He went by Mark Bailey when he tricked us. Found this thread after searching for him and realised his real name is Mark Buck. Does anyone know how to get the solicitor’s contact who's suing him, or if there’s a new court case starting? Any info would really help me out, much appreciated.

Mark Buck really can’t be trusted. A lot of his customers have connected with one another and it’s obvious that his way of doing business is repeated and widespread. Loads of us have lost significant amounts of money and been left in unsafe, incomplete homes. You don’t lose a family member again and again over the years without it causing major emotional distress!!

I wouldn’t trust Mark Buck at all. Loads of his clients have connected with each other and it’s obvious he’s been doing the same dodgy stuff again and again. A lot of us have ended up losing a fair bit of money and stuck in unsafe homes that aren’t properly finished. You don’t lose family members several times over like that without it taking a massive toll on you emotionally!!

Looks like the previous comment missed mentioning his granny too haha - Mark’s got health issues, as loads of people know, and he’s dealing with court stuff right now. If those keyboard fighters wanna have a chat, why not pick up the phone instead of hiding behind texts? That’s not gonna fix anything. Plus, if you dig a bit more, you’ll see Mark’s already paid back over 11 folks fully for his slip-ups. Who knows, maybe you’ll be next on the list. Mark Buck is an absolute con artist. He has his crew wreck your house and then demands cash for stuff like radiators, boilers, and kitchen fittings. After that, he vanishes, only coming back with empty promises and lame excuses. Then he just stops answering your calls. Stay well clear of this bloke! Mark Buck, Mark Bailey, Mark Brown, his son James William Buck, or his partner Sharon Galvin - they're all dishonest and rip people off!

Mark took a fair bit of money from us and left us stuck in a terrible situation. Even though he has returned a bit, he’s still really slow about it. We spent years putting money away, only to now have to give up nearly everything we make to cover the work he agreed to do. We didn’t know he was being sued but it’s clear he thinks we're fools. The bloke has tried every trick to dodge paying, except for if he kicked the bucket himself.

Mark Buck is set to appear at Bristol Crown Court on the 12th of February 2021. He's banned from operating as a sole trader. His son, James Buck, is also involved in the same business. Be careful and steer clear. Hopefully, he gets locked up for scamming so many folks.

We found this guy on Bark and almost hired him since Mark was really affordable, but he turned a bit hostile and we decided to drop the whole thing. He refused to share his surname and got annoyed whenever we asked about previous jobs he’d completed.

This guy Mark Buck is in court for fraud - he’s cheated loads of families, and the cases go all the way back to 2016! Honestly, steer clear of him. He refused to tell us his real surname, but he also goes by Mark Bailey, Mark Brown, and maybe other names too. Bit sad for his son, really. Avoid Ashlar SW Ltd at all costs.

He swindled us out of tens of thousands, said he'd sort out a repayment plan, then vanished and blocked us. Still owes us a big sum and no sign of a single penny back. Proper scammer. We got scammed by Mark but thankfully I caught on pretty fast to what he was doing. Luckily, I got most of the money back from him. Still owe about £3,000 though, and I can’t believe he’s still out and about! Talked to a few others he’s ripped off as well. Avoid him at all costs and I’m hoping he gets what’s coming to him at court on the 14th! P.S. if you see this Mark, count yourself lucky you still got all your limbs! Total waste of space!!!

Looks like some folks got their money back or had the job done, lucky them. We kept asking for a refund so we could pay someone else to fix it, but all we got were never-ending reasons why he couldn't sort it. Now he’s gone and blocked us completely. Honestly, steer clear of Mark Buck if you want any chance of a proper service!

I’d shared my thoughts on Mark before and I’ll admit I was quick to judge. After putting down a deposit and then calling off the job, we kept in touch with Mark about how he could pay us back. We’ve now agreed on a plan that suits everyone, and Mark’s kept to his word. Even though we’re not moving forward with the project, he’s been really helpful in sorting the refund. Cheers for that. Stay clear of this bloke Mark Buck or Budd or Brown, he's a proper con man. He’s bankrupt, got loads of charges against his place in Chelwood, several CCJs hanging over him, and trading standards are onto him. He’s also got a court date in Bristol magistrates this December. Don’t bother expecting a refund from him, he’s been ripping people off for years and can’t pay anyone back.

Mark and his crew did an excellent job for me and my wife. I was a bit worried when I read some of the reviews halfway through, but he explained that he’d faced some issues during COVID. Still, he promised that our job would be finished, and if anyone was due a refund, just to message him and he’d sort it out. It’s easy to be negative, but these are tough times for lots of folks. Mark stood by his work and made every effort to sort things out - that wasn’t just talk to us.

If your unsure, ask him to prove who he really is. Hes gone by loads of different names (Mark Buck, Brown, Budd, Butt) because hes bankrupt and got court coming up. He fooled me out of loads of money and kept lying all the time. Made up endless excuses. Really nasty bloke. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

Complete fraudster, absolutely no trust in what he says and definitely don’t hand over any money, you’ll never get it back nor hear from him again. We’ve got a CCJ against him and bailiffs are now involved. He operates beyond Bristol so be careful, especially if he demands upfront payment or insists on cash paid straight to his workers. He’s also been reported to the tax authorities. Catch you in court, Mark. Once again!

Filed a claim against this bloke with Small Claims Court and the decision was in our favour. He never replied to any of the court paperwork. I doubt we’ll actually get anything back though, but if he doesn’t pay soon, bailiffs will be sent around.

The bloke called himself Mark Brown. He sounded like he knew his stuff, eager to get going, really polite and thankful for the job, kept saying he could start straight away. Took more than £1000 for a deposit and materials. He kept giving different start dates but never showed up, always sorry and had some excuse. When we finally gave up and cancelled, he kept promising to pay back all the money, but not a single penny was returned. Action Fraud couldn’t help since we didn’t have his real name or address. Fingers crossed we can track down more details now.

This bloke, Mark Buck, a builder from Bristol, is set to appear in court on 9th October 2020 over fraud charges. He’s reportedly taken cash from loads of families and left them empty-handed. There’s already a case against him with trading standards. On top of that, he’s declared bankrupt. He uses a few different names and has some architects linked to him like Matthew Elsinor from Build Architects and Ross MacMahon from Wave 3. Best to steer clear of him.

following up on my previous comment, i think i need to take back what i said. me and mark had a long chat today, and although we decided not to go ahead with the project, he’s agreed to give back our deposit and cover the cost of the digger hire he’d already booked because of the cancellation. we had a good, honest conversation and mark even suggested some ways to keep things moving forward, but we’ve decided to pause our project for a year. remember to keep supporting your local tradespeople!
