Got a call from someone claiming to be from Amazon about an iPhone bought under my name. They said they needed to check if it was me who made the purchase. I told them it wasn’t. Then they asked me to fill out a form online with my bank details to “verify” my identity and stop the purchase. They already had my name, which felt odd. I asked the person for their name, and after a long pause of about 5 seconds, she finally replied. That delay just gave it away - it was a total scam.

on 27/12/2020 i got 2 suspicious texts from +447572925151. first one came in early at 3:04am saying something like "sky: we couldn't process your payment. update your billing info here:" with a dodgy link. problem is, i don't even use sky. then later at 9:54am another popped up claiming "hmrc: you have a tax rebate of £365.86 waiting. complete the form here:" with another sketchy link. definitely a scam, don't trust these!

I've been getting loads of messages telling me there's a tax refund waiting for me. Keeps happening over and over again!

Got a call from 07572925151 claiming to be from HMRC and Sky, then tried to send me a dodgy link. Definitely watch out for this one, looks dodgy and could be dangerous. Wouldn’t recommend clicking anything from them.

Got a call from someone saying they were from EE, but then they switched to saying HMRE. Sounded dodgy to me.

Got a text from HMRC saying I’m owed a tax refund and to click a link. They’ve always sent me letters in the past, and any tax stuff was dealt with through PAYE. This has to be a scam, don’t click on the link!

I received a couple of messages from 07572 925151 on Boxing Day - the first one popped up at 4.17am, supposedly from Sky telling me I’d missed a payment. Thing is, I’m not even a Sky customer! Then, later that morning at about 10.57am, another text arrived from the same number, this time pretending to be HMRC offering me a refund. Honestly, who do they think they’re fooling? Since when would Sky and the tax office both use the exact same phone number? They’re nowhere near as sneaky as they believe!

I got a call saying I was owed a pension refund and they needed me to fill out some application stuff to get it. Just a heads up, be careful with these sorts of calls!
