Then came the request for my name, date of birth, and bank card info-I couldn’t help but unleash a torrent of colourful language. And when they prompted for my card details? Oh, I had a bit of fun spelling out “boobies” numerically. To my amusement, the payment was successful!

Check out the two posts down for tips on how to actually tackle these scams and why just blocking is pointless. It’s really quick to use this site and report. When you report fraud to the police database, you don’t even need to give your personal info. It might take a bit of time before anything changes, but right now the cops don’t even fully grasp how bad these scams are. I got a reply from my MP which was quite eye-opening, but unless loads of people bothered to report these calls and messages, nothing will really change.

I recently received a rather believable message purporting to be from 'EVRI' - the rebranded name of what was once 'HERMES' delivery service. This dubious communication claimed I owed tax on a parcel that I had never even ordered! Naturally, I found this rather suspicious and promptly blocked the number.
