I got two calls from 447563861472 on the 11th May, one quite early at 4.49am and another around 9.10pm. They said they were from NHS UK Health and told me I’d been near someone who tested positive for Omicron. They wanted me to order a PCR test kit from swab-test-trace.com. Total scam! I always ignore calls like these. Just a heads up to stay careful! - Jayne

Everyone’s aware these texts are scams, but the tricky part is figuring out how to handle them. Blocking barely makes a dent since these scammers use countless fake, auto-generated numbers. I found some info in the post about reporting these scams to the cops - some forces actually log and look into these things. Another idea is to reach out to your local MP and see what the government’s doing to tackle the problem of scam calls and messages. i got a call telling me to hit 1 so i could speak to the officer handling my 'case'. but that cant be right, data protection laws wouldnt allow contacting someone like that remotely if it was legit. plus, they never said who they were calling. sounds like a total scam to me, and could really scare folks who aren’t expecting it. dunno what they’re after exactly, but this kind of automated call is dodgy and outright illegal.

Real nhs messages always say ‘nhs’ as sender and you can book tests properly on the gov.uk website so watch out and don’t be tricked!
