They only rang once and hung up before I could even say anything. Probably some kind of scam or just someone daft.

The bank info they asked for is totally dodgy, no way it’s real.

I got a message claiming to be from the NHS about covid exposure, so I clicked a link and ended up paying 99p for a test kit I never actually got. Then the following day I got a call from a number I looked up here, which turned out to be from someone pretending to be HSBC. The person on the phone tried asking me loads of questions, like they thought I’d just give in. Eventually, they just ended the call. Honestly, be really careful with any texts like this - there’s a reason they’re flagged as dodgy!

The whole Omicron situation surrounding COVID-19 feels like a bit of a ruse, if you ask me.

Got a dodgy text claiming to be from the NHS about being near someone with Omicron. It told me to order a PCR test kit, said it was free but there'd be 99p postage. I nearly fell for it and clicked through, but when it asked for my card details to cover the postage, I got suspicious. NHS wouldn’t ask for payment info by text, right? Plus, the number it came from, when I tried to ring back, just went to a personal voicemail on O2 - totally not official. The website looked proper legit too, so be careful out there!

Got a text supposedly from the 'NHS-UK Health Department' saying I'd been near someone with Omicron and should book a test through a provided link. Didn't click it tho, cos I've not been told by anyone officially that I've been in close contact.

Got a message this morning supposedly from the NHS, saying I'd been near someone with Omicron and needed to get a PCR test right away. There was a link attached, but luckily I didn't tap on it. It's awful how some people are playing these kinds of tricks!

I just got a call from someone claiming to be the NHS about coronavirus - total scam! They tried to make it sound legit but it raised all my alarm bells. Watch out, don’t fall for that one!

Got a text saying I’d been near someone who definitely had Omicron. It said I needed to get a PCR test, which is free, but I had to cough up 99p for postage.

The NHS really knows their stuff, unlike these scammers who have no clue what they're at.

Got a message about coronavirus, definitely a scam. The idiots who sent it couldn't even get the punctuation right, which really gave it away. Proper rubbish attempt if you ask me.

Got a scam message the other day, now the trouble is figuring out how to stop them. Just blocking the number doesn’t help since these fraudsters use loads of randomly generated numbers. This post shows you how to report these scam texts to the police forces that log and occasionally look into them. You might also want to get in touch with your local MP and ask what steps the government’s taking to crack down on these scam calls and messages. The UK Parliament website explains how to email your MP, and I found their replies pretty eye-opening.

My partner got a text super early, around 1.45 in the morning, saying he’d been near someone infected. Bit unnerving especially since we’re off on holiday the next day. I saw the number had a weird code and decided to look it up - turns out it was just a scam.

Got a text from 07563867687 claiming to be from the NHS saying I'd been near someone with Omicron and needed to order a PCR test from swab-test-trace.com. Thing is, I haven’t been outside my house lately so didn’t bother replying. Seemed fishy to me.

NHS never texts from a mobile number like +44 and then some-thing starting with 07, like 07563867687. Honestly, these scammers are just dumb.

Got a dodgy text about Covid saying I’d been near someone with Omicron and I had to get a "FREE" PCR test. But they wanted me to pay 99p for postage and give my bank details. Absolutely no way I’m falling for that scam!

This morning I received a dodgy message saying it was from the NHS UK Health Department. It claimed I'd been near someone with Omicron and told me to order a PCR test from swab-test-trace.com. Totally looks like a scam to me.

Someone called saying they were from the NHS Health Department, which sounded off to me. For starters, I've never heard of a 'Health Department' linked to the NHS anywhere official. Also, the website they gave me didn’t match any NHS web address I know. If you get a message like this, remember you don’t have to pay for PCR tests - there are proper ways to get tested without dealing with dodgy folks.
