They rang me and I answered because I've got loads of hospital and housing stuff going on. When I picked up, it was silent at first then a voice came on that sounded Chinese and like one of those automated messages. I hung up right away. Gonna block the number now.

I picked up cause it showed as a mobile. Like usual with these calls, best not to say anything (if it’s an actual person they usually say hello). The automated caller paused a couple seconds then made a beep noise and it seemed like it ended the call. But, about 40 seconds after, when I put the number into this site, I saw the call was still on. I’ve heard before they fake hanging up so they can listen to check if the number’s legit.

If you really want a loan from the government, go straight to the official website or a recognised bank or lending firm. Don’t get tricked by fake cold callers trying to steal cash from your phone bill or credit card.
