The number was a personal UK number with O2, nothing official, unlike government or NHS messages where they’d use a proper name and a sender ID instead of showing a phone number. Real alerts from official sources don’t come from a normal phone number, they use bulk SMS systems that show a sender ID, not numbers. The text said something like: “You’ve been in close contact with someone isolating recently. Please order a test kit here: <link>” I haven’t included the link to keep anyone else from clicking it and possibly getting scammed.UK5 yearsGot a call from a private number telling me to buy a Covid test kit cause supposedly I’d been near someone who’s isolating.
