I’ve never had a ring from this number before. They called my home phone at about 2 in the afternoon. A lady with an Indian accent said she was from BT Openreach (using a private number!) and claimed my internet connection wasn’t private anymore, that it was open to the public now. She mentioned several reasons why this might have happened, and just as she was probably going to ask me to check the router, I asked her for my name. That totally threw her off, like it wasn’t in her script. After a short pause, she said “Mrs Clark.” I told her that wasn’t my name, which is true, and she just stood there unsure of what to say next. When she asked if Mrs Clark was available, I said there isn’t any Mrs Clark at this address or linked to this phone number. Following a longer silence, she said they’d update their info and then hung up. I’m curious what would’ve happened if I *was* Mrs Clark. It’s odd as I’ve received quite a few calls over the years meant for Mrs Clark, about things like loft insulation and so on, and I always tell them she’s not here - but it doesn’t seem to stop the calls. I’ve now blocked that number.
