Received a message that was exactly the same, and I suspect it must’ve cost them a pretty penny since I’m currently in Turkey. Quite frustrating, to be honest. It’s an O2 number starting with 075. Honestly, feeling rather down about it and have decided to report this to O2.

Just received a rather alarming text from my daughter (who's in her twenties) that’s left me quite distressed. The message reads: "Mum, I'm in hospital. Our other phone died. We had an accident with our mate. I'm hurt, but I’ll be alright. Our friend is in intensive care and it doesn’t look good for him. I'm in the I.C.U. right now, and phones aren’t allowed here, so I'm sending this as a favour. We need your help." Honestly, who on earth would send something like this? It’s incredibly concerning. What do these people truly want?

Received a message earlier today claiming to be from "our mum," stating he was in a meeting and required our banking information. Quite concerning, to say the least, as our mum has sadly passed away. So, just a heads-up to everyone-definitely a scam! Stay vigilant!

Received the exact same message on the Saturday of 5th June 2011, around 1:25 in the morning. Nearly had a turn as soon as it landed, especially with our little one snug in bed. We shot back a response, explaining to them that they'd clearly messaged the wrong number, yet it kept gnawing at us throughout the night. It really put a dampener on things when we figured out it was all just a scam. Quite fed up with the whole situation, to be honest!

We received a similar message last night at 12:26. At the time, we were fast asleep, and instinctively, I nudged my husband awake. Thankfully, our two children, aged 18 and 16, were also soundly tucked in. Even so, the urge to get up and investigate the matter was overwhelming. It's funny how your mind doesn’t quite function properly after being jolted from slumber, which left us pondering whether this might have been some underhanded scheme to prompt us into replying, potentially racking up who knows what sort of charges? Honestly, anyone who devises such tricks must have a rather warped sense of humour!

Earlier today, we received a rather dodgy text from someone claiming to be our mum. They were saying something about having received a loan but were facing difficulties with their card. Next thing we know, they were asking for our card details and postcode to supposedly assist her! Complete jokers trying to pull a fast one on unsuspecting folks!

My mum received precisely the same message, and it's causing quite a bit of distress for her and our dad. It’s clear that this person lacks any empathy whatsoever. I plan on heading to the police station straight after work to lodge a report, and I’ll also be informing O2 about it.

We've received the same message two times over the last couple of days. Although we don't have kids ourselves, we do have nieces and nephews, and we completely understand the type of worry this could stir in any parent. It's quite frustrating (and honestly quite disheartening) to see that there are individuals out there with so little to occupy their time.
