Got a call today when I landed in Edinburgh, but I didn't pick up. Didn’t leave any voicemail either. The plane touched down at 3.50pm, and the call came through around 4.11pm on 29.01.2026.

Got a message claiming to be from John Lewis Finance asking me to confirm a payment. It didn't seem quite right, so I rang up John Lewis directly since I actually have an account with them. They told me they hadn’t sent any messages like that. Definitely a scam!

Got a text that looked like it was from the NHS, saying I’d been near someone with Covid. Then they offered a Covid test kit for 99p, with a button to click if I wanted to buy one. They asked me to put in my personal info, including card details. I ended up giving them everything, but thankfully I noticed no charge appeared on my statement by the evening, so I cancelled my card just in case. Turns out the number isn’t really from the NHS - loads of people have flagged it as suspicious. Definitely not legit.

Got a call like this the other day. I answered at first but then I figured it was one of those covid scams. Rang up my bank straight away to check everything. All fixed now. Didn’t really think it through at the time, but I’ve definitely learnt an important lesson from it.

Got a text from +44 7548 489642 claiming to be from some civic contact thing. The message had a link to national-health-info.com which at first seemed legit like a proper civic app or site. But then they try and charge you 99p for postage on a supposed test kit - don’t fall for it!
