So I got a message saying "Dad, please save this new number, my phone got wet and stopped working." Next, they messaged me saying "I'm really upset, ring me asap." But when I tried calling back, there was a lot of static and bad connection. Then they said they needed to make a payment urgently and asked if I could help. That’s when I got suspicious. I went along with it for a bit, and they asked for £1699.99. I’ve reported the whole thing to Santander since that was the sort code they gave me, along with the account name and number.
