I got a call from an Indian woman claiming to be from Amazon, asking if I’d made a big purchase in California. I told her no, but she went on to say she had my phone number and email linked to my Amazon account. She insisted she could cancel the order if I wanted. Then she said I’d receive a text with a code while still on the call, and to give it to her so she could stop the transaction. It was obviously a scam. Later, I received an email from Amazon warning me that someone in India had tried to get into my account. I followed their security advice and blocked the attempt straight away.
