Got a call from this number, some bloke whose accent I couldn’t quite catch but I pieced together that it wasn’t legit. He claimed he was from CAB or CID and said they knew I was ‘having trouble paying my bills’ and wanted to offer help, which was news to me! Just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

07545 043629 Honestly, this scammer was actually one of the funniest I've come across! Said his name was Michael and he was from some company I’ve never even heard of. I just kept quiet, waiting to see what nonsense he’d say next. Then he goes, ‘right???’ so I just mimicked him with ‘right?’ Then he got all serious, ‘why are you laughing? This isn’t a joke.’ I just replied, ‘then why are you calling me?’ He says, ‘I’m calling to tell you the truth, you’re a daft woman.’ And then he hung up! I’ve been chuckling about it for ages now.

This number called me twice today. The first time was early morning, I picked up but there was so much noise in the background I just hung up straight away. Then they rang again about 7pm tonight! I didn’t answer and blocked it instead. Happy I checked the comments here before calling back.

Never say yes or anything like that. These cold callers try to trap you into agreeing to stuff, even your name, so they can charge you later and play the recording back as proof. I asked the caller who he was and where he got my details from. He claimed it was from official sources. I told him that doesn’t answer my question and asked again who provided my info because sharing it like this breaks data protection laws. He muttered some nonsense company name, then when I asked him to say it again, he swore and hung up. Bottom line - just don’t say yes to anything on these calls.

Some bloke called, there was loads of noise like he was in one of those busy call centres. He tried to say my name but messed it up, then asked if I was home. I asked who was on the line and he said he worked for a debt collection agency, claiming I owed loads of money. I just laughed and said "wrong person" before hanging up. Checked the number afterwards and it’s definitely a scam - I don’t owe anything to anyone. Proper dodgy!

Got a ring from some "Michael" claiming to be from Citizens Advice Bureau. Asked him for his last name and which branch he was from, he just said "that's a good question." I told him "pretty clear cut really," and he ended up hanging up on me! Blocked the number straight away.

It was "Citizens Advice Centre" not Bureau he claimed to be from. Some bloke called "James" said he had just got my application about loans and credit cards that I’m supposedly unable to pay off. I told him all the details he had about my debts were just plain wrong. Then he goes, "So you’re not after any government assistance?" Like, what for? Loans that don’t even exist?? This is obviously some firm just guessing, it’s definitely NOT the government ringing to offer you free cash back.

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming he was from the government, telling me I owed over £5000 in unsecured debt. I asked, a bit sarcastically, what exactly he wanted from me. He said he was just letting me know about a government scheme to help with unsecured debts. I thanked him for the info, and he quickly ended the call when he realised I wasn’t falling for it. These scams can be really harmful, especially for those who are more vulnerable, and I really hope they get cracked down on soon.
