Got a WhatsApp message from someone who rang my mum, she suffers from Parkinson’s. They managed to scam her out of £1500. I’m furious at these cruel scammers and also at the bank for letting them create a WhatsApp bank account so easily.

Got a message on my phone this morning that left me scratching my head. Went to sleep last night as a bloke, checked all the usual spots this morning, still the same, no surprises. So unless I’ve magically turned into a mum and a woman in the night, this is obviously a scam. Milf? Yeah, right! 😘

Without a doubt, this is a con. I got a message claiming to be from my so-called child, saying they've switched mobile carriers and requesting that I reach out to them on WhatsApp using an entirely different number. It just doesn’t sit right!

Someone was tryna scam my lad, messaged his phone sayin "hi mum", but his kids are too young to be sending texts like that. The number’s his, so it’s clear they’re up to no good. They want you to add them on WhatsApp to ask for money, probably a loan or sum. Heard plenty of folks have been tricked into handing over cash. Proper dodgy, so I gone and blocked ’em straight away.

I just got a message from this number saying, "Hi Mum, I've switched to O2," or something along those lines. It was rather fishy, so I reckon it’s a scam. After seeing several others had received identically dodgy texts, I decided to block the number. Initially, I thought it might be a mistake, but now I'm convinced it's a scam. To make matters worse, my child has passed away.

This is just the classic 'hi mum' trick, trying to freak out some folks who aren’t quite with the programme. It’s been known to make a few parents panic and reply, sometimes losing thousands in the process. If you come across this scam, it’d be a good idea to forward any screenshots to '[email protected]'. Don’t forget you can also file a report with Action Fraud. Just search ‘Action Fraud’ on Google, head to the UK police site, scroll down the phishing report page to the bottom and start your report from there.

Got a text from someone pretending to be my mum, with a different phone number. It was sent to my elderly mum. Later on, I got another message from them saying they were struggling financially, missed some direct debits, and might have to borrow from a loan shark or a short-term lender. Definitely seemed like a scam to me.
