Pretty weird message!3 yearsOn Monday, the 10th of April 2023, at precisely 9:15 AM, I fell victim to a rather dubious call. The individual on the line was pretending to be my son, claiming that he’d inadvertently dropped his phone into the loo and was unable to access his accounts. He mentioned he was using a mate's phone to contact me. Naturally, I attempted to call him back, but he didn't pick up. Instead, he sent a message claiming he could hear me despite me not being able to hear him. The conversation quickly moved from regular texts to WhatsApp, and then I was asked if I could help settle a couple of bills. When I probed further about the bills, I insisted that I needed to chat with him face-to-face first. He then claimed he’d tried to ring me, but for some reason, it wasn't connecting. When he mentioned that one of the bills was for a MacBook Pro, all the alarm bells rang in my head-it was clearly a scam! I promptly declared my intention to report the matter to the police to the caller.WhatsApp3 yearsI received a dodgy text claiming that my daughter had somehow managed to drop her phone in the loo and that she was in dire need of funds to sort it out.
