The comment marked as green is probably from some scammer or maybe just a young, barely literate kid messing about. I’m pretty sure the moderators will take it down soon enough. Got a text saying "hello mum," which was odd since I don’t have any kids. Pretty sure it was one of those dodgy scam messages, so I just blocked the number and reported it. Such a bad attempt!

Everytime I see people moaning about catching this idiot it bugs me. The truth is the big criminal networks behind these scams are anything but dumb. They rake in millions off unsuspecting people here in the UK. If you really want to see arrests made, you have to report every scam call you get. There’s info on how to do this further down this thread, back on 31/01 around 10 posts earlier. That Channel 5 documentary mentioned really opened my eyes to how much money flows from these frauds.

So, I got a message around 4 in the morning saying "Hi Mum, sorry for the late text." Thing is, my three grown-up boys don’t ever call me Mum like that, and they wouldn’t send something without any proper punctuation either. The text also asked me to save a different phone number. Bit odd, if you ask me.

Got a call from some scammers asking me to send £800. Honestly, it’s best to report their bank details straight to the police and get their accounts blocked before anyone else falls for it. Stay careful out there!

My mum got a message saying something like “Sorry for the late message mum, hope you’re alright. Just letting you know about my new monthly plan. Drop me a quick text on 07542819334 so I can save your number, thanks x” She thought it was me and replied, “Is this *my name*?” They answered back, “Yeah it’s me! Happy you got my message, I switched to a new contract after finding a good deal x Have you saved my number yet? How’s everything with you? xx”

Got a text late at night, all like they’re my kid with a new phone number. Problem is I don’t have any children, so it was pretty clear this was a scam. They were texting from 07547178710, but I’ve blocked both that number and the one they were pretending to be.

All the info given here along with the stuff on the 'action fraud' website really shows why fraudsters hate it when we report their dodgy attempts to the cops. They’re always trying to hide what they’re up to. This type of scam was even shown on that Channel 5 show I watched. There was also this one scam I hadn’t come across before - it drains your bank account completely. Honestly, I’ve never really trusted those banking apps!

There were messages shared on this thread on the 1st of May and also 10 right here explaining how to actually deal with these scams. Simply ignoring or blocking them won’t help. You really need to step up and take some responsibility to sort it out. Once you’ve done it the first time, it’s surprisingly quick and simple to report all these annoying scam calls that everyone seems to get.

Please make sure you read the message below! If you get any scam calls, messages or emails, you should report them straight away to the cyber crime police. They have a system in place that makes it easy for anyone to report these fraud attempts. When I raised the issue of all the scam calls and texts with my MP, I was advised to do exactly this. There are instructions on how to report scams posted further down this thread. Scammers definitely don’t want people to know about this reporting process. If you don’t report these scams, don’t be surprised if they just keep happening.
