I replied to an ad for labrador pups on a West Wales Labrador owners group. The bloke called himself Jonathan David. Something about it didn’t sit right with me, so I looked up his number here. Turns out he was also advertising pups in Tower Hamlets, London, at the same time! When I did a reverse image search on the photos from the ad, I found the exact same pictures on another site, but the dogs were older and a different woman’s name was listed (using the same phone number). I’d steer well clear - looks like you might end up paying a deposit and never seeing a pup at all.

Beware of someone called Erik Carter - total con artist! Claimed to have Yorkshire Terrier pups for sale. We gave a deposit and set up a meet at what he said was his house, but turns out the real owner there hasn’t got any dogs. Everything on Facebook and Messenger looked genuine but was a complete sham.
