Got a call claiming to be from NHS COVID, saying I had to get a PCR test straight away. They asked for my name, address, then even wanted my card details to pay £3.99 for a speedy test result. Total scam. They even threatened a fine if I didn’t order the test that day and went on about self isolation rules. Sounded pretty convincing and could easily catch someone out. Gotta stay sharp and not fall for it!

Got a text from this scammer just now! My app didn’t notify me, but the number showing at the top of the message was an instant red flag. Remember, both PCR and lateral flow tests are provided for free! There are also official test centres you can visit. If your app hasn’t sent you a notification, then any other texts with phone numbers are scams. Seriously, don’t be fooled by this nonsense, folks!

Pretty sure this is a scam. If the NHS wanted to get in touch, they’d do it through the NHS Covid-19 app notification. I didn’t carry on when they started asking for cash. It’s shocking that someone’s using a mobile number to send these messages around. If you’re in doubt, just ring 119 tomorrow - that’s the official NHS Covid helpline. I’m just gonna ignore it cos it feels dodgy. Hope others don’t fall for it either.

Just received a text a short while ago from this number saying: NHS alert - You’ve been near someone with COVID. Urged me to get a PCR test via a link they gave (said it doesn’t matter if you’re jabbed or not). Had a quick look into the website and saw it’s registered via Namecheap, which seemed odd since I remember the real NHS sites use Microsoft for their domains. Definitely looks a bit dodgy to me.

If you get a weird text, just send it to 7726 for free. This makes it easier for your phone company to trace where the message came from and deal with it if it’s dodgy. And whatever you do, don’t click on any links in those messages.
