Number didn’t show up on BT Call Guardian, so I’m guessing it’s either a scammer or one of them call centres. I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.

So, we've received a couple of calls from someone pretending to be from HMRC claiming we owe them money. Both calls came on different days but they were identical. On the call, they told us to press 1. Seems dodgy to me.

Honestly, I've been thinking - why aren't phone companies just cutting off all these scam numbers, whether they're mobiles or landlines? It’s ridiculous how these fraudsters keep getting away with it. There has to be some way to hit them back hard, like slapping massive fines on them. Surely, someone clever out there could sort this mess out once and for all.

This number called me 4 times within just a couple of hours, and the person on the line had a thick Indian accent, trying to scare me with talk about arrest! Honestly, just ignore and block it.

Back when I was little, my mum and dad used to say “Pardon my French!” every time they swore. I still remember my first day at school when the teacher asked if we knew any French at all. They rang me again, and this time they got all threatening saying it was the last warning and if I didn't cough up, they'd send a warrant to put me in handcuffs. Honestly, they're getting pretty scary now.

These lot keep ringing me saying there’s a warrant out and to press one ASAP. This is the third time I’ve got one of those calls. Didn’t bother pressing anything, but I hope they heard what I really think of the cheeky scammers!

Got a call from a mobile number with a thick Indian accent, saying they were from the tax office in London. They stumbled over the easiest questions. I mean, why would HMRC be calling from a mobile? And why would they hire folks who struggle with English to scare ordinary people who’ve never dodged tax? Bit suspicious if you ask me.

I saw on the HMRC site they've got a bit about this kind of scam. They recommend reporting any dodgy calls to [email protected] - you need to give them your phone number, the number that called you, plus when it happened. Not sure how much they can actually do unless they get MI5 or GCHQ involved, but might as well try, right?
