Got a message on New Year’s Eve 2022 from someone claiming to be my daughter, saying her phone broke and she’d switched to a new one. They asked me to delete the old contact and use the new number instead. Then came loads of texts saying she desperately needed me to send money to some accounts for bills, saying her banking info was still on her old phone. I tried calling that new number but no one picked up and the tone was odd. Something didn’t feel right so I didn’t send any cash. Instead, I called her usual number and sure enough, she answered! Definitely a scam attempt.
