There was this Denise Couchman who was calling me from Bradford, asking about some kind of deposit.

Got a call from Denise Couchman on 07458114163, apparently a new number. She claimed to rent out a furnished flat nearby and even sent pics and a contract. Sounded convincing, but something felt off. Luckily, I googled her email [email protected] and found out it was a scam. She had loads of paperwork and a whole story, which could easily trick people. Glad I checked online before getting involved!

So this older lady was asking for a £600 deposit just to view a place. Something felt off, the emails looked kinda generic and not like a real person was writing back. Thought it was fishy, so I did a quick Google search and thankfully stumbled upon these reviews. Glad I didn’t get scammed!

Over the weekend, my daughter got hit with the same con. The scammer even sent fake land registry papers! Since the house is nearby, I told the real owner about the scammer using their address. Honestly, I just wish karma catches up with whoever’s doing this 😡

Was nearly swindled outta £500 for my family today. The usual story about needing a holding deposit before even seeing the place. Seriously, don’t transfer a penny to this tosser. Absolute lowlife.

Someone got in touch with me after I put up an ad on Gumtree saying I needed a place to rent straight away. They gave the name Denise Peyker Couchman and claimed the property was at 32 Bramwell Close, Stratton, Swindon, Wiltshire SN2 7SN. They sent over what looked like a really genuine contract and pictures, and even shared a story about having hearing problems and needing to move in with family, so the place was supposedly empty. Just watch out, it all seemed a bit off!

Yesterday, we got a call from her here in Lochgelly, Scotland. We already handed over £500 for the deposit plus £500 rent. She’s still saying she can’t hear, and mentioned a solicitor named Vincent Miller. She’s got a Monzo bank account with sort code 04-00-04 and number 59257681. Now, just this morning, she’s asking us for another £500.

We got a call from her yesterday here in Lochgelly, Scotland. We handed over £500 for the deposit plus £500 rent. She keeps insisting she’s deaf, and keeps mentioning a solicitor named Vincent Miller. The bank details she gave us are Monzo, sort code 04-00-04, account number 59257681. Today she’s already asking us for another £500. She’s now ringing from this number: 07488876058.

Watch out everyone! I put up a listing on Gumtree, looking for a 3-bedroom house and got a message from someone claiming to have a place available. She sent me pictures of the property, along with a fake tenancy agreement and what looked like a passport scan. She asked me to transfer £500 to her solicitor before I could even have a viewing! It wasn’t until a mate pointed out that the photos didn’t match the property's exterior on Google Maps that I realised it was a scam. I'm based in Birmingham, and this is the email address she used to try and trick me: [email protected]

Funny thing, I almost got caught out by this today too! They gave me some bank info - something like Account name: Vincent Miller with account number 59257681 and the sort code being 04-00-04. Nearly fell for it!

About a fortnight ago, she conned me out of £12,000. I was meant to collect the keys and move in with my baby. She spun a tale about having hearing issues, which made me feel really stupid. I’m not going to let this go though! I just hope karma catches up with her. Watch out, everyone!

Watch out for Denise Peyker Couchman, she's trying to scam folks. She said we could see the property but wanted £500 in advance. Since I’ve worked in lettings, I could tell right away that something was dodgy, so I never handed over any cash. Everyone should be cautious with this one!

Today I almost got caught out by a scam, they wanted me to pay £500 just to see a flat at 4pm tomorrow. They gave me an email and mobile number that were identical. Also, the bank account for the deposit was under the name Miss K Clifton.

Somebody called themselves Denise Peyker Couchman and said they were hard of hearing and had a house for rent. They seemed legit, even sent over pics and a tenancy contract. Then they wanted £600 upfront to show we weren't wasting their time. I did a reverse image search and found the photos were from a Maidstone estate agency website. I've reported it to the police, Action Fraud, Gumtree, and Crimestoppers!

+447488868200 - Denise Couchman is the name linked to this number at the moment. Definitely a scam. She got in touch by email about a rental property supposedly available and said I had to fork out £500 in advance just to see it, which was meant to happen on Saturday at 3pm. That felt dodgy straight away, so I told her there's no way I'm paying anything before actually seeing the place - this has scam written all over it. Her email seems to be [email protected].

This lady kept emailing me saying she had a house that fit what we were after, then said we had to send £900 as a holding fee before seeing it. When we turned up to check the place out, nobody there had heard of her at all. Total scam.

They really messed my partner over, took 2 grand off her when she’s pregnant and desperate for somewhere to live. We ended up waiting around at some address just to see a house, all this while facing the risk of being homeless. Proper awful situation 😡😡😡

Lost £725 to a scam just yesterday! Someone calling herself *EMMA DOUGLAS* said she had a flat for rent. She sounded really convincing, mentioning a solicitor and tenancy contract. She wanted the payment upfront before I could see the place. I’m in a tough spot right now, so I went ahead and paid, hoping to move quickly. Then she told me her solicitor had been in a car crash and couldn’t come to the viewing. That’s when alarm bells rang for me! I contacted the bank and police straight away. They’ve started looking into it and I’m trying to get my money back now. She was so smooth with her words - exactly how scammers talk! Please be careful and double check - I usually am, but this time desperation got the better of me.

Today I got a text and a letter from Denise Couchman - but it's definitely a scam. The number she messaged me from is +447537102531. In her latest email, she mentioned that a 6-month renewable contract would be fine and suggested a viewing at 2pm on Saturday. She was complaining about how some potential renters aren’t able to pay the deposit yet still want to book viewings, which she found quite frustrating. She also attached a document supposedly from the DPS. She went on to ask if I could put down a refundable holding deposit (which she called a security deposit). She said that paying the deposit wouldn’t obligate me to rent the place, and if I changed my mind after the viewing, she’d refund it straight away without any deductions. She asked me to confirm if I wanted to go ahead with the payment so she could send bank details. Honestly, it sounds dodgy to me, so watch out if you’re contacted by her!

I came across someone calling herself Denise Peyker Couchman who replied to my Gumtree ad claiming she had a place for rent. She asked for £500 in advance before I could even see the flat. We set up a time for me to view it, but right before the visit, she insisted I send the money to her lawyer, who had a Nigerian name. That’s when I started to doubt things and did a quick search online. Massive thanks to everyone sharing their stories here - you basically stopped me from losing £500!

Just got a call from +44 7537 182225, some Denise Couchman, trying to pull a scam on me. Saw a Gumtree ad with amazing pics of a house, thought it was too perfect. Something felt off, so I had a dig around on her and found out she’s dodgy. No way I’m getting caught by that idiot. People like that are just pathetic, especially messing about during a pandemic. Really happy I looked up this person before going any further. I put up an ad on Gumtree searching for a place to rent, and Denise Couchman (using that same email you mentioned) sent me some photos of a house in Newtownabbey. At first, the house seemed perfect and exactly what we wanted. But thankfully, I found these warnings about her before I got too involved. What a relief!

Today, a young woman in Belfast was nearly caught out by someone using the name Denise Peyker Couchman who was advertising a property on Gumtree. The scammer sent her a fake tenancy contract along with a bogus deposit scheme invoice, asking for £1,100. Luckily, she showed me the papers first, and I got suspicious when I noticed the landlord’s address was actually in Scotland. After spotting other warnings from past victims, I warned her that she was being targeted by a con artist. It’s worrying that this scammer seems to have operated openly for quite some time - has nobody reported them to the police yet?

Got a message off someone claiming to be Linda Carrigan, offering a flat for rent but asking for a deposit before even seeing it. They also slipped up and used the name Laura at one point, which was fishy. They sent over a tenancy agreement that looked proper, really convincing.
