Royal Mail actually sends a proper letter detailing the package info instead of just telling you there’s something waiting without giving any real details. This is absolutely a scam. Whenever there’s a parcel that needs payment before they deliver it, Royal Mail always provides full info about the parcel and why the charge applies (usually related to trading rules).

They then asked for loads of personal info and I filled it all out. When it came to paying, I decided to double-check the reference number and it didn’t look right at all. A quick search online showed loads of news articles warning this was a scam. I quickly deleted everything I’d entered but maybe it was already too late. Proper sneaky!

Didn’t even have to check it out to know straight away that it’s a scam. Royal Mail would never message you like that. I ran the link through VirusTotal[###) and it came back as a phishing website, plus loads of other malware scanners flagged it too. Definitely dodgy.
