The message had a link which looked like it took me to a genuine UK Government page where I could pay by card. Foolishly, I went ahead and paid, but soon I knew I’d messed up. I logged into my online banking and cancelled the card right away. Later, the bank’s fraud team phoned me to say someone had already used my cancelled card for multiple transactions.
