This number texted me pretending to be my son, and the phone seemed fine at first. But then, in the chat, they suddenly asked for £1,100 to help with a car payment.

Had a call from some crooks pretending to be my son's mate, saying they’d lost their phone and that this was their new number. They were talking to my elderly mum, which is just awful.

Got a call from someone pretending to be my daughter, said her phone fell in the toilet and she couldn’t access her online banking. Then they started asking me to transfer money to an account to pay a bill. Sounds like a proper scam to me and definitely needs to be reported to the police. Be careful with these types!

I got caught out by this number too, they started with some story about dropping their phone in the loo. I fell for it, mainly because my daughter was in a really remote spot in Scotland and I was struggling to get hold of her. I've made sure to report the number to the proper authorities now.

Got a message just like some others, saying something along the lines of 'hey dad, this is my new number'. Felt a bit off to me.

Got a text from 07526929893 saying "Hey Mum, this is my new number for now. Dropped my phone in the loo, it’s knackered." None of my kids sent that, so I reckon it’s a scam right away.

Someone said they were a relative and wanted me to ring them straight away, which I ended up doing. I'm not sure if they might have been trying to fish for any personal details during our chat?

Got a call from this number pretending to be a relative. They said their phone was smashed and this was their replacement number. Claimed they urgently had to clear a bill and had borrowed cash from a mate, so needed to send it back straight away. They gave me the friend’s bank info but weirdly never moved any money. After thinking it through, I knew it was a dodgy scam.
