First, I got a call from someone claiming to be with the local council, telling me they'd be inspecting my place next week. Then, just a couple of days later, the same number rang me again but this time the bloke said he was from Maxen Power and that he’d be turning up the very next day to disconnect my gas. Quite confusing!

At first he said he was ringing from Brent Council, then suddenly changed it to Barnet Council. When I asked which one he really worked for, he went back to saying Brent. I double checked with the office and they told me nobody with that name is employed there.
