I got a call from someone who definitely sounded Pakistani, saying “Hello, I’m Dave.” I was like, “Dave? Are you sure? You don’t sound like a Dave, more like an Ahmed or Hussain.” I asked what his real name was, told him it’s not about English names, honesty matters more. Then he started talking about some accident I had. I just played along and when he asked for my name, I said “Detective Inspector.” He immediately hung up and hasn’t called back since.

Mostly rubbish, they wait for you to answer then transfer you to some call centre. ‘Hello Mr Luke, you’ve been in an accident blah blah’ and then they just hang up when I said they got the wrong person.

Had a call from someone with an Indian accent asking about my accident. I told him I’m long dead and have been reborn, so he might as well keep calling cos I’ve blocked his number. Got a call from some foreign bloke asking for Alexander, I told him he’d got the wrong number. Then he started asking if I’d had an accident. Straight away I sussed it was a scam, so I said, “Mate, I know exactly what you’re up to, so take this number off your list.” He then just hung up on me.

Got a call from some accident firm in India. I said I chipped my tooth munching on peanuts, but the person kept asking what happened again and again. I kept saying the tooth broke while eating peanuts. Then they put me through to a supervisor who asked the exact same thing, but in fancier English. Now they’ve started calling from mobile numbers!!! I just let it ring for a bit then picked up but didn’t say a word. It stayed silent for a few moments before hanging up. I blocked the number straight away and had a look online. Thanks to other people’s comments, I’ve decided not to pick up any mobile number unless it’s already saved in my contacts. Only downside is sometimes genuine calls from doctors or nurses show up on mobiles.

Some bloke from India rang me on my mobile sayin there was an accident nearby I could claim for. Asked him a few times to say where exactly but he just kept sayin "where your phone's at now, sir". Bit weird that cos I was just in bed at me house I've been in for like 50 years. Closest accident here would be me spillin a coffee last month, no joke.
