Got a text saying ‘Hey mum, this is my new number’. I instantly clocked it was dodgy but carried on chatting just to see what they’d say. They sounded pretty convincing and if I hadn’t been on alert, I might have been tricked. After ages going back and forth, they ended up asking for a whopping £900! Absolutely mental! Be careful and don’t get caught out by these scams.

Hey mum, I got a message saying "new number." Told me to get back as soon as I see it. My lad was right there with me when that dodgy call came through, clearly a scam.

I've been getting calls where they just mention a family title but say absolutely nothing more. It's pretty annoying because you don't know if it's a scam or someone messing about. Just silence after that first word, like "auntie" or "cousin," then nothing else. Weird behaviour!

Got a text saying "Hi mum, this is my new number"... but I don’t have any kids, so that was a bit odd. Then they asked me to reply, which just felt dodgy. So yeah, I just blocked the number straight away!
