I got one of those 'hi mum' texts too, and honestly, it sounded real enough that I almost got tricked. It was only when they asked me for cash that I got suspicious - luckily, I'd just had a chat with my daughter about money the day before, so I knew she had accounts in two different banks. When I tried to get them to give me our secret phrase, they just stopped replying. It’s worrying to think how many parents might get caught out by this kind of scam.
