This afternoon, I received a call on my mobile from this number. Since I wasn't familiar with the caller and it wasn’t in my contacts, I opted to route it through my phone's screening feature, and lo and behold, the caller terminated the call. I highly recommend that everyone take advantage of their phone’s screening capabilities, particularly if you're not anticipating any incoming calls. If it’s someone who genuinely wishes to reach you, they will likely leave a message, allowing you to choose whether or not you want to return the call.

This number rang me earlier today on my mobile, but as I didn’t recognise it, I let my call screening handle it. As soon as the screener answered, the caller just dropped the phone. I’d definitely recommend using call screening if your phone has that feature, especially when you’re not waiting for any calls. Legit callers will always leave a message if it’s important.

The call came through at precisely 8:14 AM on the 23rd of January, 2024. Over the past week, it seems like I'm inundated with scam phone calls; it's absolutely relentless! I habitually block them, and I always put the speaker on when a call comes in. More often than not, that seems to do the trick!

Scroll back a couple of pages from this post on here and you’ll see loads of similar scam warnings. If we don’t start flagging these scams properly, they’ll just carry on. The main reason these dodgy calls keep coming is because almost all of us Brits don’t bother reporting them. Only a tiny fraction either actually report them or fall victim because they’re not with it anymore and lose their savings. Either way, it’s a big payday for these mostly overseas scammers.

Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, a bloke who said his name was Simon. He never mentioned which company or organisation he was calling for. Didn’t even ask to confirm my identity, just jumped straight into asking if I wanted a full-time or part-time job. Seemed fishy since he obviously had no clue who I was. When I asked him where he’d got my info, he just hung up on me. I didn’t share any of my personal details, so I’m pretty sure it was some kind of scam or phishing attempt.

I received a rather curious call recently from someone identifying herself as Barbra, supposedly from JobSite. She was inquiring if I was in the market for new employment opportunities. Interested to probe further about their activities, I responded, “Ah, JobSite, splendid! And you’re called Barbara, is that right?” Strangely enough, she promptly disconnected. This raises some red flags for me, as it very much feels like a scam. Being in the recruitment field myself, I can assure you that this sort of behaviour is utterly unconventional. What’s more unsettling is the fact that she was using a UK mobile number. Quite odd, don’t you think?
