07438512725 is still trying to pull a scam as of 15th October 2024! Today, the story was about buying a car for his daughter, no viewing needed, transport will handle it, but he wants my PayPal info for payment! Claimed to be disabled and uses a wheelchair... Didn’t even know the car’s registration, even though it was clearly shown in the advert... Used a business account and went by the name Anil... Best thing to do is block him quick! It’s tempting to get involved since it’s a full price offer and no questions asked, but don’t fall for it! Watch out!

This just happened to me as well. The guy said it was for his daughter’s birthday and that he can’t come pick it up himself 'cause he’s disabled. Said he’d send a recovery company to collect it. Tried to pay over PayPal too. Thanks to you lot, I politely told him I didn’t feel comfortable with the way he wanted to do things and wished him luck finding a car. I had the exact same tale from this bloke. Looks like he’s at it all the time. If you’re putting a car on Gumtree, listen to the warnings (mine and the others here) and don’t get caught up in this nonsense about not having an online account or wanting to pay with Paypal. Literally within 5 minutes of listing my car on Gumtree this morning, I got flooded with like 14 spam calls, then a text from someone called avocadowolf telling me to email them at [email protected][###]. I just ignored it and didn’t reply, but I knew it was suspicious since you can’t reply to the number. There's this bloke everyone’s been chatting about, wolfie avocado, who messaged me after I put my parents' car up for sale on gumtree. He says he's in a wheelchair and wants to buy the car as a surprise present for his daughter Jennifer. They’re still using that [email protected][###] email, advertising a car on Gumtree around Bristol. Two messages popped up, one saying David Avocad and the other David Cado, both from the same email! Totally the same person trying to sell.

Got a call from someone named Wolfe Avocado, spinning a dodgy tale about PayPal, no bank account, and his daughter’s surprise while she’s in a wheelchair. Wants to buy our car straight away - sounds just like the scams others have mentioned already. Watch out for this one!

Today, we had a run in with someone called Davidcado or maybe Wolfe who was up to no good. They used the email r.y.littledal@gmail[###] when asking about a car. Definitely felt like a scam attempt.

Just got hit with this scam too. The person’s emailing from [email protected][###] and calling themselves Wolfe Avocado. The message was exactly like what others are saying - some tale about his daughter wanting a car for her birthday.

Got a call from [###] today, 22nd Sept 2020, pulling the usual scam on my daughter’s birthday. They went all out with the wheelchair story, Paypal, some transport company nonsense, the whole shebang. This bloke’s still using Wolfe Avocado and asking the same silly questions - it’s gotta be some kind of scammer’s copied script. What’s the next step to catch this tosser?

I just went through something similar. A guy called David Avocado with the email [email protected][###] was asking me the exact same dodgy questions. I'm pretty sure his daughter should have had her birthday already! The question about PayPal was a red flag for me. Never ever deal with Paypal when selling a car!

Got exactly same thing as the others mentioned here - some story about a daughter’s birthday present and PayPal, all under the name Wolfe Avocado or something. Honestly, really grateful for this site cause it stopped me from getting scammed. Put my car up for sale on Gumtree, and suddenly got like 7 or 8 calls all about accidents, insurance claims and nonsense. When I asked what info they had on me, they just hung up straight away. Sounded like they had an Asian accent as well. Didn't give away my car reg number though. There’s honestly so many online scammers these days, it’s insane.

Pretty much the same as the others. He got in touch through Gumtree since we’re trying to sell our car right now. Asked the usual questions about the car and then started a tale about giving it as a present to his daughter Jennifer. He wanted to pay through PayPal which I clearly said no to, so I blocked all his emails. Lucky I googled his name and found this page. Cheers for putting this up.

Got a message from someone called ‘mikehayes01’ asking for my email [email protected][###] about a car I put up on Gumtree. I replied and it was the exact same scam story as lots others have said here. When I asked for a phone number so we could talk like normal, he said he was deaf. So glad I found this site before anything worse happened. WATCH OUT FOR THIS CON ARTIST!!

I’m trying to sell my car on Gumtree and got a text from someone called ‘rynolddal’ but no phone number was shown. They asked me to email them at this address [email protected][###]. Strangely, I wasn’t able to reply directly to the text so I felt uneasy about it. Did a bit of digging and this site helped me see it was dodgy. Just a heads up to everyone out there - be careful!

Got the exact same email from someone claiming he needed a car quickly for his daughter’s birthday. Said he was disabled and would send a haulage firm to pick it up, and that they’d handle all the paperwork. He wanted to pay using PayPal too. Sounds fishy to me.

Just got the same message here. Couldn't reply to the text either. Same excuse - car for his daughter, asking for VIN and reg number. All that info was right there in the pic on the ad. Proper glad I looked it up on whocalled[###].total scam!

We recently got a call from someone called Mr Liitledale attempting the exact same con with the email [email protected][###]. Said he wanted to buy a car for his daughter but couldn’t come to check it out ‘cause he’s in a wheelchair. Honestly, I’d rather just shut that git up and tie him down! I had a car listed on Gumtree in Inverness and got a message asking me to email [email protected][###]. I checked the address on Google and it turned out to be a scam. I replied saying the car had already been sold and joked that their daughter seems to change cars quite often, maybe she’d be better off with a bike!
