I had the unfortunate experience of being contacted by some persistent bloke who seemed to be reading from a script. He kicked things off with the old chestnut, "How are you today?" without so much as a hint about who he was or whether I wanted to engage with a complete stranger. He launched into a lengthy pitch about the company he represents, and I had to cut in to point out that he was clearly trying to sell me something. I mean, really, what’s the point in asking how I am when we’ve never crossed paths before? I made it clear that this is my private number and he had no business calling me. He had the audacity to reply, "Anyone can call whoever they want," to which I shot back, "Not if you’re peddling a scam or fraud!" After firmly telling him to take a hike, I abruptly ended the call before I could hear any more of his drivel.
