Got a call from someone claiming to be BT's messaging service. They kept telling me to press 1 to listen to a message. Don’t fall for it - if you press it, they’ll steal your info! Make sure to BLOCK that number straight away.

Got a text from someone called "Jamie" claiming to be with Switch365, offering me £50 for each business I refer. Was about to reply STOP like they advised to unsubscribe, but thought I'd better double-check first! Ended up blocking the number straight away!

Scam alert! Someone pretending to be from a company I contacted about finding a child trust fund kept ringing and texting me on and off for about two months. They’d call at all sorts of times, like from morning straight through till past midnight, just trying to trick me into handing over cash.

Just like the last person mentioned, I booked a stay in Australia through booking.com and within half an hour got a text saying they needed my email. The weird thing was the message came from a UK number, so I thought it was fishy and decided to ignore it and block the sender straight away.

I booked a hotel in Australia through Booking.com and less than half an hour later got a text claiming it was from the hotel. It said my email wasn't valid and asked me to reply with my address. Almost replied before I decided to search online and found this site. Thankfully I didn't reply and have now blocked the number.

They called me up and mentioned they'd located my trust fund, which was a bit strange since they already knew my name.

I've been getting texts from this number almost daily, sometimes even twice a day! The messages are about stuff like Crypt Events hosting Slimzee, Riko and Manga in Stoke on the 1st of March. They say tickets are limited and give a link with an opt-out option by replying STOP. They also mention events near me, like an Adult/Student Night at Jumbos on the 8th March from 7PM to 1AM, with a licensed bar, live DJ and alcoholic slushies. The tickets links come with the same opt-out reply option. Really annoying how they seem to know roughly where I live.

I recently got a quote from Anglian and I'm a bit unsure if this message they sent me is legit. It said something like "*** EXTRA SAVINGS OFFER *** Following your Anglian quote, we're a tad short of our production goals. If you can proceed quickly, they'll knock a bit off the price. You can also book your installation up to a year in advance and avoid the price hike in January! If you want to check the discount, just reply YES. To stop messages, reply STOP." Just wondering if this sounds a bit dodgy or if it's normal.

Just got a text for Ricardo about some cyber security job application they say is being processed, with an email to come soon or something. Honestly, how on earth do these lot get hold of our numbers? It's like delete after delete with no end!

Sounds like a total scam to me! I got a text message the other day saying something like: “Hello, you might be owed a big refund for car finance from 2014 to 2021. Just click below to find out if you’re eligible, it only takes half a minute. The FCA says an average refund is worth £5,318.25! Head over to yourrefunds.co.uk to check. Text 'STOP' if you want out.” The thing is, I’ve never even done car finance before. Dodgy if you ask me!

Got the same weird message. Bit funny really, as I’m disabled and gave up my driving licence ages ago 'cause I didn’t want to drive anymore. I just replied with “buzz off, you daft sod” 😂 then blocked the number straight away.

Got a call saying I could get a refund on some car finance from any time between 2014 and 2024. Thing is, I know for a fact I wouldn’t have been approved for finance even if someone held a gun to my head. I fired back a response that’s best left unshared in public!

Just hang up and block that number ASAP, they're trying to scam you into giving your bank info.

Got a message from this number saying I might be owed a big refund on some car finance from years back, like 2014 to 2021 or something. It said just pop over to their site in about 30 seconds and see if I qualify. They reckoned the FCA says each claim could be worth up to £5,318. The website was yourrefunds.co.uk and they also said to text 'STOP' if I wanted to opt out. It was signed off by DOORSTEP REFUNDS LTD. Seemed a bit dodgy to me!

Got a text saying “STOP 2 optout” or something like that - classic scammy move. Honestly, don’t reply ‘cause that’s exactly how they try to trap you. Also, they didn’t even bother using my real name, instead they put some random person’s name in the message lol.

Got a message from this number saying I might be owed money for car finance from a few years back. Thing is, I’ve never even financed a car before. Feels a bit dodgy to me. I’m just gonna block it. The text said something about a refund between 2014 and 2021 and mentioned the FCA saying there’s over £5,000 to claim. Said to visit some site and that I could opt out by replying 'STOP'. Seems fishy so I’m steering clear.

Got a text claiming to be from Royal Mail about some mix-up with a parcel delivery. They were asking for my details to sort it out. Felt a bit dodgy to me, so I didn’t give anything away. Might just be a scam trying to grab personal info. Be careful if you get one like that!
