People seem to get mixed up but it’s genuinely Leeds City Council ringing about your electricity inspection if you live in a council house. The confusion probably comes from the call being handled by Mears reception, who are doing their jobs from home. I got an email follow-up too after I missed the call, so it’s legit.

Got a ring from a number I didn’t recognise, and it turned out to be one of those scams. They were acting like they were from the Council, but definitely not legit. People around here better watch out for these sorts of dodgy calls!

Got a call on my landline earlier from a young woman called Nevaeh. She started by saying she was with Leeds City Council, then changed it to say she was acting ON BEHALF OF LCC and later mentioned York Property Services. It all sounded dodgy to me, so I asked her to send a letter - which is what LCC usually does if they need to carry out an electrical inspection. Because of that, I turned down the appointment she was trying to set up.

This number rang me up claiming the council passed on my contact to carry out an electrical inspection at my place. As the woman spoke, I could make out a bloke shouting obscenities at someone in the background. Seems like a total nuisance call to me, so I’m planning to alert the council about it.
