We received the same text message from the same number on an official government device, and to be honest, we have no intention of replying. What we'd rather do is add this number to our list of nuisance callers, along with those dodgy dating websites. It gives us a bit of satisfaction, really, flipping the script and turning the tables on those who try to scam us. Best of luck to them, I suppose. Cheers, Philly.

We've just received a message from this number claiming, 'The government has rolled out a debt settlement order, meaning those in debt can apply to have it erased. Text DEBT to apply, or reply with STOP to unsubscribe.' We wish to cut off any communication with this number, as we're not in any financial trouble whatsoever. Has anyone got an inkling of who might be behind this? I'm rather reluctant to text STOP, fearing it might lead to unexpected charges.

We've received the identical text message from the number 07543033046. We chose not to reply with 'stop' as it seems to be a premium rate SMS service that could incur hefty charges.
