Got a call from someone claiming to be from the ombudsman, saying I was owed a refund linked to PPI. At first, he said it was over £3,000, then dropped it to a bit over £2,000, and ended up telling me I’d get a tax rebate once I sent in some form. When I asked what form, he told me it was to let them handle the transaction on my behalf. Kept trying to get me to sign off on the form, but I wasn’t having it. Eventually, he gave up and hung up. The voice sounded like it might’ve been someone from Nigeria.
