Got a call from someone saying they were from Barclays, trying to check on a big payment of a few hundred quid that supposedly came from my account. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with Barclays. I hit 1 to say it wasn’t my transaction, and right away it connected me to a guy claiming to be from Barclays support. I told him I bank with Nationwide instead, and when he asked for my details, I gave my name, birthday and postcode. After that, something felt dodgy, so I ended the call before he could get any card info. Haven’t had any follow-up calls since.
